Anthropic Finds Emotion-Like Signals Inside Claude. But Does AI Really Feel?
AI models contain enormous networks of artificial neurons. Researchers can study these networks to see what happens inside when a model responds to different situations. Anthropic found groups of these artificial neurons that became active around concepts associated with particular emotions. For example, patterns associated with happiness became active in situations where a human might expect happiness.
