Nigeria Is Betting Big on Startups — And You Could Get Up to ₦10 Million to Build Yours

What if your startup idea didn’t just stay in your notes app? What if it actually got funded? That’s exactly what the Nigerian government is trying to make happen with a new program that could quietly change how startups are built across the country.

What if your startup idea didn’t just stay in your notes app?

What if it actually got funded?

That’s exactly what the Nigerian government is trying to make happen with a new program that could quietly change how startups are built across the country.

A new opportunity just dropped for Nigerian founders

Nigeria’s federal government has launched something called the iDICE Startup Bridge and it’s not your typical “apply and hope” program.

This one comes with real backing.

We’re talking about support from the Bank of Industry, funded by global players like the African Development Bank, Agence Française de Développement, and the Islamic Development Bank.

And the goal is simple:

Help Nigerians turn ideas into actual startups and help startups grow into real businesses.

Here’s what makes it different

Most programs focus on either beginners or growing startups.

This one does both.

The iDICE Startup Bridge is split into two tracks:

1. Founders Lab (For beginners with ideas): A 12-week program to help you turn your idea into something real. You will learn how to validate your idea, build a business model, and create an MVP.

You get up to ₦10 million to actually build your startup.

Not a loan. A grant.

2. Growth Lab (For startups already building): If you have already launched something and it’s showing promise, this is your lane. You get up to $100,000 in equity investment, support to scale your business, and help with fundraising and connecting to real investors.

In other words: this is where startups go from “we’re trying” to “we’re growing.”

Why this matters more than you think

Let’s be real.

Most startup opportunities in Nigeria are heavily concentrated in Lagos and Abuja.

If you’re outside those cities, access to funding, mentorship, and networks can feel almost impossible.

This program is trying to change that.

It’s designed to reach all 36 states + the FCT, opening doors for founders who’ve been overlooked for years.

So… what’s the catch?

Well, this is where reality kicks in.

Programs like this often sound great on paper, but execution is everything.

The big question is:

Can this program deliver real mentorship, real funding access, and real outcomes?

Because early-stage founders don’t just need money.

They need guidance, networks, and support that actually sticks.

And that’s what this program will be tested on.

Still, this could be your moment

If you’ve been sitting on an idea…

Or you’ve started something but don’t know how to scale…

This might be one of the biggest opportunities you’ll see this year.

Applications for the Founders Lab are already open, and they close on April 20, 2026.

Final thought

Nigeria has no shortage of ideas.

What it’s lacked is structure, access, and early support.

If iDICE gets this right, we might start seeing more founders go from:

“I have an idea”
to
“I built something that works”

And honestly?

That’s how ecosystems grow.
